Professional Career
Founder & CEO, Nolos Cabinet Multidisciplinaire Inc
In 2022, after more than 20 years in financial services, Ghassan founded Nolos Cabinet Multidisciplinaire Inc., a Canadian company that integrates FinTech, InsurTech, and LegalTech under one platform. The company was established to democratize middle-class families' access to financial and legal services.
As CEO of Nolos, Jason Barakat built an ecosystem that includes a Quebec-based legal firm, a notarial study, and a national financial MGA (Master General Agency) distributing protection and wealth solutions from Canada’s top institutions. He assembled a multidisciplinary team of lawyers, notaries, financial planners, and specialists to deliver these services in an accessible way.
Growth at Nolos has been driven through strategic acquisitions, product innovation, and partnerships designed to reach families across Canada. In 2022, Jason acquired Skylegal, a Quebec-based legaltech firm. In 2023, he launched a charitable foundation focusing on expanding access to justice and financial protection for families in estate and legacy planning.
Ghassan recently acquired a technology firm that is developing specialized software for public and private institutions. This step has enhanced the Nolos platform by introducing new technological B2B capabilities in legal and financial services.
Earlier Career
Ghassan Barakat also serves as a Strategic Senior Consultant. His latest mandates include work with Chubb Insurance, the world’s largest publicly traded insurance company, and other industry leaders. In these roles, he has provided executive advisory on financial services innovation, integration, B2B2C distribution strategy, and client value creation.
From 2003 to 2021, Jason served as President and Principal Officer with AMF (Financial Market Authorities in Quebec) of La Capitale Services Conseils. He transformed the firm during his tenure, increasing its assets under management from $300 million to over $3 billion. His work included building specialized financial services for Quebec’s public sector employees.
In 2017, Ghassan became President of La Capitale Financial Security (formerly Penncorp Life Insurance), a national firm focused on disability and personal finance solutions for self-employed and blue-collar Canadians. Over three years, he modernized and nationalized the company’s compensation structure, built a culture of performance and inclusion, and restructured operations to strengthen profitability and customer focus.
He also served as President of SSQ Financial Group Distribution for one year. In this role, he modernized the retirement financial planning division serving gray-collar clientele, aligned advisor networks and operations during a post-merger integration, and improved profitability while enhancing compliance and client experience.
Philanthropic Work
For over two decades, Jason Barakat has participated in the Guignolet de Saint-Vincent de Paul, going door to door during the holiday season to collect funds for those in need. His philanthropic work has extended to supporting causes tied to public institutions, especially those connected to employee retirement planning.
Jason has long contributed his time and resources to initiatives led by Canadian bishops. Currently, he is collaborating on acquiring and launching an elementary school and a high school dedicated to serving the community and ensuring excellence in education and generational value transfer.
He regularly speaks on youth financial literacy, leadership, and entrepreneurship, while mentoring professionals and entrepreneurs. In 2021, Ghassan partnered with Peartree Canada to assist family offices, high-net-worth individuals, and organizations in increasing their social impact through strategic giving and philanthropic planning.
He later founded the Nolos Foundation, which is dedicated to expanding access to Justice & Family Legacy Planning for all. In addition, he continues to serve as a volunteer leader for multiple nonprofit boards and interfaith humanitarian projects.
Educational Background
Ghassan Barakat studied at Concordia University John Molson School of Business, where he focused on finance, business law, and theology. He has also completed extensive studies in securities, investments, exempt markets, estate planning, individual and group insurance, venture capital, and strategic philanthropy. Over the years, he has earned multiple certifications that have strengthened his knowledge and prepared him for industry leadership.
